Building an open, accessible digital space needs robust communities to sustain it. All web platforms need to acknowledge that some users will use and abuse them in ways inconsistent with their creators' values. Many blockchain projects attempt to regulate their use through Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs). These conflate ownership with democracy by using token-based voting. Such a system would turn mourning into a speculative instrument and offer little protection against abuse. Because my platform would serve as a sort of graveyard, it is important that it be a peaceful, safe, and equitable online public good.
